In our 76TH “FREE” episodes of “LIVING THE ALOHA LIFE” we’ll be discussing HAWAII’S BEST MALASADAS…plus a SPECIAL bonuses! Malasadas originated in Portugal, particularly in the Azores islands. The traditional Portuguese malasadas are round, puffy pastries made from a sweet dough that is deep-fried until golden brown. They are typically coated in granulated sugar and served plain or filled with various fillings like custard, jelly, or chocolate. The popularity of malasadas in Hawaii spread beyond the Portuguese community and became embraced by locals and tourists alike. Today, malasadas are a beloved part of Hawaii’s culinary landscape and are widely available throughout the islands, particularly in local bakeries and food trucks.
