In our 22ND “FREE”episode of “LIVING THE ALOHA LIFE” we’ll be discussing TIKI EXOTICA PART 1 and listening to over 30 songs…The Music of the 50’s and 60’s was known as Lounge and Exotica and was brought to Hawaii by DON BEACH who built the Old International Market Place and his DON THE BEACHCOMBER as well as the SHELL BAR and the HAWAIIAN WAIKIKI VILLAGE. We go back in TIME to relive the Music and lives of the most famous EXOTICA ARTISTS of their time…MARTIN DENNY, AUTHOR LYMAN and the God Father of Lounge and Tiki Exotica…LES BAXTER! Sit back and enjoy the MUSIC OF EXOTICA!
Lopaka Colon son of Augie plays at La Mariana Sailing Club on Mondays. He does all the bird sounds like his Father.
Bryon…I just heard this from someone! Crazy think I never knew…All I knew is that he played in the band DON TIKI which we’ll be discussing in the next TIKI EXOTICA Podcast in Part II. Thank you for bringing this to our attention…Word is IntoxiKA plays at La Mariana on Monday nights under Thomas Macay…Does Macay and Colon know or play with each other? I’d like to find out. Either way…I often go to La Mariana on Thurs and Sundays…but I don’t think I have ever gone on a Monday…I’ll need to change that! Mahalo and Aloha!
Yes, Lopaka plays with Intoxika. I need to go more often too, but it’s usually on the weekends.
Excellent! Yeah…that’s my problem as I said…I don’t get there on Mondays…I’ll be sure to go on a Monday coming up in the near future…pretty stoked to hear them play!
